While it may be difficult to buy ANY stocks in a bear market, here's an article in BusinessWeek's online edition about stocks that have traded near their 52-week highs in this bear market.  The list includes "safe" investments in companies that may stand to do better in a recession, such as generic drug manufacturers and consumer staples companies.
